Hello, world!

I've decided to start blogging. If I'm going to study communications then I might as well start delving into Internet media, right? Can't say that I count Facebook or even my innocent Myspace and Xanga accounts from way back when as any worthwhile experience. Though I must say, I do miss playing around with HTML and different profile layouts. I distinctly remember boasting a colossal Rolling Stones logo on top of my Xanga page once upon a time... That was definitely my favorite excuse (other than AIM, of course) for procrastinating in middle school. I'd love to have the talent to design such layouts myself.

Can't say I have any news worth sharing at the moment, other than the fact that there is a TON of snow on the ground right now! I'm pretty sure I haven't seen this much white fluffy stuff in New England all at once ... ever. It sure makes walking to and from class an adventure -- Thank you Mom for letting me steal your snow boots this semester! While attempting not to slip on my trek back from the gym yesterday, I glanced wistfully at the softball field only to see that the top few links on the fence were visible. And generally Hepatitis Creek (our campus's affectionate name for the scummy pond next to my dorm) is an obvious obstacle between my dorm and the athletic facilities, but should I have desired, I could have waded through the thigh-high drifts straight across the pond without noticing any difference between water and land. And of course Sleeping Giant is stunning, as always. If only there were a ski trail that dropped down from the cliff overlooking campus...

Now don't let this be any indication that I'm an anti-snow New Englander, since those two oxymoronic phrases make ZERO sense to me. Why live in New England if you're just gonna complain about the weather for five out of twelve months?
There are too many people up here that just spoil the fun for the rest of us. Either shush or go to Florida.

Here's the path outside the dorm - winter wonderland much? :)

I'll end my first post with a quote. This one was re-posted on my friend's Tumblr account -- it makes me laugh every time!

“When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.” - Karen, age 7
